Are you from Australia or New Zealand and considering a long European motorhome trip?
Many clients ask us whether it is better to hire or buy a motorhome when undertaking a long European trip and we have written an advice page on this topic.
However, we feel we should just mention to our Australian and New Zealand clients that there is something you may not know about buying a motorhome in France – it’s really inexpensive compared to buying one back home!
Antipodeans make up well over 50% of our hire clients and over 60% of our motorhome buyers and the one thing the buyers are always urging us to share is just what great value motorhomes and campervans are here in France. Many clients who have rented for a longer trip have wanted to come back for more after their first trip and enquired about buying a van to make annual trips. The price to buy one is always a pleasant surprise and they often wish they had simply purchased from the outset.
We would not suggest jumping straight into a purchase if you have never even stayed in a motorhome but if you have rented or owned one before and loved it buying is a very sound option, especially for an extended stay or multiple European trips. Our second-hand vehicles offer great value and even brand new vans are great value here. They also hold their value surprisingly well so make a good investment.
Here are some example prices for this gorgeous, two-berth, luxury, compact motorhome from top German manufacturer Knaus (this is called a Euro-Explorer Compact Prestige on our hire website).
Price for a second hand Knaus 550 MF, 2016 model with 40,000 kms €41,995.
Price brand new for Knaus 590 MF 2019 model €54,270.
You can read all about buying a motorhome or campervan in France on our dedicated vehicle sales website www.eurocampingcars.com.
If you would like our advice on whether to buy or hire for a long motorhome trip (or multiple trips), get in touch and tell us about your plans. We will be happy to help you find the right route for your European motorhome adventure.
Whether you choose to hire or buy, now is the time to start planning a longer trip for 2019 to get your first choice of vehicle.
