So what do The France Motorhome Hire team pay for a bottle of Champagne?
If you are a Champagne lover living in any country other than France this blog might make you jealous but it should not! It should simply make you come to France where we quaff Champagne on weekdays because we can.
We are a bit spoilt here being based just an hour and 20 mins from The Champagne Region. Most local supermarkets sell a huge range of Champagnes starting at around €12.99 from lesser known producers. The supermarket options are perfectly drinkable but if you want to find really stunning Champagnes for under €20, head to the little known Les Riceys area at the southern tip of The Champagne production area. Les Riceys region is a joy to explore and tastings are free at the huge number of smaller, rural producers, some of whom are members of the ‘France Passion’ scheme so you can even stay the night in your campervan at the vineyard.
Les Riceys is on the border of Champagne and Burgundy so you can also find our local Champagne equivalent “Cremant de Bourgogne” which is made from the same grapes but the they are not able to call it “Champagne” so it is even better value, starting at around €7.99 per bottle in supermarkets or direct from the producers.
If you head to this area, do visit the lovely city of Troyes too, it’s en-route and just 50 mins from our depot.
There is cheap but glorious fizz everywhere around us here so come and explore our local area in a campervan and enjoy some of the best value bubbles you will ever try. All of the FMH fleet have excellent fridges that work wherever you park to chill your Champagne and Cremant. There is also plenty of storage space on each of our vehicles so don’t worry if you are buying in bulk for a special occasion, there will be room to carry it!
